Time Requirements:

All of the services offered at The Counseling Office are self-paced, providing clients and student couples an opportunity to advance as rapidly, or as slowly, as their time and ability permit.

Since no two people or couples are exactly the same, it is difficult to accurately pre-determine the length of each persons program.  However, on average, clients involved in the coaching programs (PREPARE or ENRICH) tend to achieve their goals within 6 to 10 hours of instruction.  With clients involved in counseling, they tend to achieve their goals and exit the program between 10 to 24 one hour meetings.  The overall length of time usually ranges between 2 to 6 months.  Clients tend to report that they receive the greatest benefits when they are able to meet with their coach or counselor on a weekly basis in the beginning of their program.  When they get the ball rolling, they tend to like to have their meetings on an every other week schedule.  After experiencing the benefits of the counseling office's services many individuals and couples find such great value in the process that they become life-long learners, entering and exiting counseling and marriage education at different points throughout their life. 

  Financial Information: Tuition, Fees, & Payment Plans

Since everyone's program is self-paced you pay for only the amount of instruction, counseling or coaching time that you use.  The cost of books, marriage and personality inventories are priced separately.

The 6 hour seminar has a set tuition that requires payment prior to the class.

Private coaching and counseling is billed at an hourly rate.. You can choose from one of two payment methods for these services.  One, is the pay as you go plan.  You pay the fee in full with cash, check or Mastercard/Visa, at the time the service is provided.  Or, with Mastercard/Visa, you can use our liberal tuition payment plan that does not include interest charges on the unpaid tuition balance.  A mutually agreeable monthly fee is established that is automatically billed to your credit card until your balance is paid.  This provides you the opportunity to spread your payments out over a longer period of time.

Many clients find that insurance reimburses a portion of their cost for counseling services.  Tom Strohl is a participating provider with Capital Blue Cross and Highmark Blue Shield.
